An individual who contaminated sweets with tranquilliser and gave them to minors at a summer camp in the area has confessed to sexual offences against two boys who were between nine and ten.
The accused was detained after eight children and an older person became sick at the facility in the summer month.
The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he stood at the judicial center on Friday.
Nevertheless, he disputed one particular crime he was facing, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
The defendant was remanded in custody ahead of a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Treat game'
Mary Prior KC, prosecuting, detailed the criminal behavior to the court.
She said his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a youth camp which he operated.
The defendant conducted a "treat game" with the children, the prosecutor explained, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were settling down and ask them to consume candy "as quickly as they can".
She stated to the judge the defendant had engaged in this activity with the boys "over an extended period", and children had previously fallen ill the following morning.
She stated the defendant had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had concerns in July 2025.
Mrs Prior KC continued: "Recently" his stepchild had concerns about the situation, with valid cause.
"They chose" to investigate in the individual's items."
The legal counsel explained items including baby oil, ointment and injection devices were discovered, and his family member notified the authorities about his concerns.
She stated the man continued to play the "treat game" with six youngsters that night - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"The police had not gone out by that point," she continued.
The police watchdog, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was reviewing the police response of the incident.
The legal representative stated the children were struggling to walk due to their condition, so the stepson called the police a second time.
She explained the defendant then engaged in the "sweet game" in a space of five youngsters.
